Breathe In, Breathe Out:
The Inside Story on Developing an Artificial Lung

Speaker photo

Join us for our final Café Scientifique event of the spring as we welcome Dr. William Federspiel. The director of research in the Medical Devices Laboratory at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, he will talk about developing an artificial lung, a feat that could someday help save thousands who die each year from lung cancers and pulmonary diseases. Dr. Federspiel also will talk about the challenges of transitioning new medical device technology from a university research lab to a medical device company for product development and human clinical trials. A question-and-answer session will follow his informal presentation, giving plenty of time to learn more about this successful man and his medical breakthroughs in a relaxed, casual setting.

Tim Palucka, Angela Stabryla and Linda Ortenzo, co-organizers
